Our Community Need
Komen North Louisiana conducts a needs assessment to guide our priorities and work more effectively within the twenty two parishes we collectively serve. The needs assessment includes an overview of demographic and breast cancer statistics that highlight target areas, groups or issues. Komen North Louisiana then uses the the needs assessment to make informed decisions on how the Affiliate can use its resources to make the greatest impact on breast cancer in the area through the awarding of local grants for education, screening and treatment programs.
For the 2016 grant year starting April 1 2016, we will be conducting two separate grants programs, one for the 12 parishes of Northeast Louisiana and another for the 10 parishes of Northwest Louisiana. (Note: in 2017, the two territories will only have one grants program from which grants will be awarded.)
The priority parishes in NELA are Lincoln, Morehouse and the Mississippi River Region (East Carroll, Madison and Tensas Parishes)
The priority in NWLA are North Caddo Parish, Bienville Parish, Claiborne Parish, and Webster Parish.
